Ganesh Chaturthi Celebrations.


Ganesh Chaturthi is the festival of Hindu's celebrated on a large scale in honor of lord Ganesh. Ganesh the "Elephant headed God" is a God of Art and Wisdom. This Festival is also known as "Vinayaki Chaturthi". This festival is observed and celebrated according to the Hindu calendar and it falls in the month of Bhadrapada

The Festival is celebrated on a large scale in India, mostly in the state of Maharashtra, western & southern region of India.
It is also celebrated worldwide by the hindus who have settled their. Other countries who celebrate this festival of joy are Terai region of Nepal, United States, Canada, Mauritius, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Burma, Fiji, New Zealand, Trinidad & Tobago, and Guyana.

Celebtration in Maharashtra.

Ganesh Utsav is celebrated in Maharashtra is very Humongous. Mumbai and Pune being the most popular cities for this festival. Many pandals are installed by the mandals of these cities. Thousands and lakhs of people pay visit to this temporary shrines. Some of the Famous and old Mandals are as follows

Artificial pond created for immersion
Not just the mandals but also many families living in these cities and all over Maharashtra bring and install Ganesh idols at their homes. The idols of clay are brought home and rituals are done according to their traditions. Some families have for 1 & half days some have for 5/7 (According to Hindu calendar) and most of the mandals have it for 10 days. Many Celebrities also install Ganesh idols at their places. 



The festival ends with the immersion of Ganesh idols brought and installed in Mandals and houses. The idols are immersed in lakes, rivers and the sea. Nowadays artificial lakes & ponds are made for the immersion to save pollution.
