Upcoming Assembly elections in Maharashtra

 Assembly Elections 2014, Maharashtra.

After the 2014 loksabha elections in May, Elections of Maharashtra state Assembly is said to be held on Oct – Nov 2014. The results of Loksabha elections 2014 will have a great influence on this election. The parties playing Major roles in these elections will be BJP, Shivsena, Congress, NCP (Nationalist Congress Party) and MNS (Maharashtra Navanirman Sena).
  • BJP – Shivsena

Uddhav Thackeray and PM Narendra Modi.
This Ally is said to be the potential winners of this upcoming elections. The Modi wave which took over the nation during 2014 Loksabha elections also had a huge share from Maharashtra. The surveys suggest the same trend will continue during the 2014 Maharashtra Assembly elections. There were some disputes between Shivsena and BJP at the first but things were sorted after some discussions and meetings. BJP will surely feel the loss of Gopinath Munde who was a powerful leader of BJP in Maharashtra. The hopping of leaders from one party to other has started. BJP is in full swing as many renowned leaders of NCP & Congress have entered BJP. And there are certainly no signs of leakages in BJP. Shivsena on the other hand is standing strong with BJP.
The main leaders of this ally will be Uddhav Thackeray (Shivsena Head), Aditya Thackeray (Head of Yuva Sena), Sanjay Raut (Member of Rajya Sabha) and those of BJP will be Devendra Fadnavis (BJP president Maharashtra), Vinod Tawde (Senior BJP leader), Eknath Khadse (Senior BJP leader). If rumors are to be believed Devendra Fadnavis is considered for the Chief ministerial candidate. Amit Shah (BJP Chief) started their campaign in Maharashtra. The Ally Consisting Shivsena – BJP – RPI -Shetkari Sanghatna – RSP are known as “MAHAYUTI” (Grand Alliance / NDA ).
Number of Seats won in 2009 Maharashtra Assembly elections
  • BJP – 46
  • Shivsena – 45
  • RPI – 14

  • Congress – NCP

Sharad Pawar(NCP Chief), Sushil Kumar Shinde, Prithviraj Chavan (Chief Minister)
Congress – NCP are the present ruling parties of the state. This is their third term in the state. But this Alliance suffered a huge loss during loksabha election 2014. This alliance is popularly known as “AAGHADI” , the Democratic Front. The Indian National Congress (INC) will be lead by the Chief Minister of the State Prithviraj Chavan and the key leaders would be Sushil Kumar Shinde (Senior Congress leader), Narayan Rane (Senior Congress leader). The leaders of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) will be the NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, Ajit Pawar, Prafull Patel, Ganesh Naik, Jitendra Aavadh.
This ally has to recover itself from loksabha polls and perform better to stay in rule.
Number of Seats won in 2009 Maharashtra Assembly elections
  • Indian National Congress – 82
  • NCP – 62

  • Maharashtra Navanirman Sena(MNS)

Raj Thackeray (MNS Chief)
MNS will be lead by its Chief Raj Thackeray. 2009 Maharashtra Assembly Elections were their first elections. In 2009, MNS won with unexpected seats. Though it did not had any win in 2014 Loksabha election, MNS is stated to have a pretty share in 2014 Assembly elections.
